About the Event
Say hello to Krisstine. Krisstine is an amazing, spunky, and funny eight-year-old who has the rare genetic disorder Syngap1 which has also led to being diagnosed with other disabilities that include: autism spectrum disorder, global development delay, epilepsy hypotonia, sensory processing disorder, and scoliosis. While these diagnoses have led her to being unable to process her emotions at times and not knowing a sense of danger, she has great receptive language skills and enjoys life. There are times when she is unable to communicate her wants and needs, which leaves us guessing. This can lead her to be frustrated and overstimulated, leading to self-injurious behavior.
We are part of an organization whose sole mission is to find a cure for this rare disease. SynGAP Research Fund, a non-profit organization founded in Palo Alto, CA, has also partnered with Cecilia Anastos from Meridus K9 Service Dog Program to provide service dogs to syngapian children.
The total cost for these dogs is $25,000. We are asking for financial assistance. Meridus K9 Service Dog are trained to assist children with SYNGAP1. Krisstine’s service dog will prevent her from eloping, provide pressure therapy to reduce anxiety, and assist during her seizures.
We are incredibly grateful for any donations that you can make to the Krisstine LaBleu Service Dog Grant. Your donation is 100% tax deductible and your money goes directly to the program (no overhead). We will continue to update everyone in this journey. Thank you.
